Arkadium announced today that it is celebrating National Video Game Day by spotlighting one of its most popular browser-based titles, Family Feud. The company encourages all players to enjoy the title, itself based on the long-running game show, via its platform. Arkadium is also partnering with Fremantle, the game show producer and licensing distributor, to distribute seven pieces of trivia about Family Feud.
According to Arkadium and Fremantle, these are the seven facts that fans of Family Feud (both game and game show) should know:
- Family Feud has inspired over 50 international adaptations, with versions in the U.K., Australia, Russia, Mexico and Japan, among others
- The show has asked more than 20,000 questions since 1976 (when the show first aired in the U.S.)
- Family Feud has awarded nearly $25 million in prize money since Steve Harvey took over as host
- While Richard Dawson was the original host in 1976, Steve Harvey has hosted since 2010 and filmed over 2,500 syndicated episodes
- The show has won multiple Emmy awards, including for Outstanding Game Show, Outstanding Direction of a Game Show and Outstanding Game Show Host
- Family Feud has been featured in multiple films and television shows, including Saturday Night Live, Family Guy and The Simpsons
- The show is taped in front of a live audience in Atlanta, Georgia
In the last year, Arkadium has opened its platform to third-party developers, offering a support fund and a 75% revenue share. While Family Feud has existed on the platform for years, it was joined this year by fellow trivia TV show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?
